Wells SC welcomed a small fleet of sharpies on the weekend originally scheduled for the (now postponed) British Championship. We were lucky to have one of the few weekends with decent weather so far this season and enjoyed two days of sunshine and gentle breezes.
Six races were sailed in Wells harbour over the two days with the race officers laying some interesting courses including a demanding beat the entire length of the channel into the tide and shifty breeze on the last day to finish in Wells quay.
Racing was tight but good natured, Will Gibbs notable for showing he can finish strongly by pipping the boat in front in two races in a row.
We managed to retire to the WSC marquee in time to avoid the afternoon thunder showers and enjoy some of Wells’ friendly hospitality.

With the continuing easing of lockdown we’re looking forward to more sharpie fleet racing as the season unfolds.
